Hulitan Childcare Centre

The Hulitan Early Years Centre is a 6,000 sqft trauma-informed, purpose-built childcare facility completed for Hulitan Family & Community Society Services. The facility features natural cedar elements in the T&G foyer and main hallway ceiling, as well as stained wood paneling in place of traditional drywall to further bring the natural elements inside. The large curtainwall/storefront windows allow a ton of natural light to pour into the space, providing a warm and inviting space for children to play and develop. The centre includes four separate childcare spaces, a fully functioning kitchen, and two office spaces. The exterior incorporates cedar elements with the T&G vertical siding, and wood sunshade at the southwest corner. A large timber framed bike shelter continues to tie in those natural elements. The play area at the back has a large rain garden, a little big house built with cedar, two sandboxes, and a log round story time circle, surrounded by trees and native plants.
